THE VOICE FOR THE VOICELESS
Whether it’s domestic abuse, war time violence, work place discrimination, illiteracy, or lack of healthcare, women and children are most vulnerable wherever these exist.
Through our annual campaign titled ‘A Million Strong For The Afrikan Woman’, Women Are CORE reaches out to women (and sisters) in faraway places to be their voice…by telling their stories and also by helping raise awareness about issues impacting them directly.
This we achieved in 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016 through massive awareness campaigns that helped awaken the public to the plight of vulnerable women in some communities. This is our way of serving these communities and helping make a difference.
Every year a cause affecting women negatively in any country is chosen via membership vote and focused on. Women, men and families across different cultures are invited to get involved in informing and educating their circles on these issues. Information is shared on how the public can help make a difference.
A Million Strong For The Afrikan Woman campaign typically involves an annual 3K Run/Walk and/or an evening of entertainment, which offer an opportunity for participants to meet and interact with women from these countries, experiencing their culture first hand. It is an event like no other.
